Description

I am offering a rare original 2-track reel-to-reel tape of Frederick Fennell conducting the Eastman Rochester Orchestra in Music of Leroy Anderson Mercury MVSS-30. These half-track tapes were issued in the later 1950's and were extremely expensive at the time. This one had a list price of $7.95 which today would be over $80. Half-track tapes should be played on a half-track tape deck for optimal performance. It is possible to play them on the standard quarter-track machine, but you will not get the full benefit of this tape. This same performance was issued on LP on Mercury SR 90009. Mercury recordings are famous for great sound and this reel is evidence of that. This is early stereo recorded with 3 microphones. 
The box is in excellent condition. There are no splits or writing. There is some wear from being handled. I play-tested the tape on my Technics 1506 reel-to-reel recorder. The tape plays great. There are no drop-outs I heard. The performance is complete. The buyer should be extremely careful when handling this or any tape of this vintage, keeping in mind they are over 60 years old. Mishandling can cause breakage.
