Promo Green Vinyl That Glows in the Dark!
Made in USA - Limited Edition - Extremely Scarce!
This twelve inch vinyl single was distributed in very limited numbers in 1984 soon after METALLICA was signed to the Elektra label. At that time the band had recently released their second album Ride The Lightning on the Megaforce Records label, same as their debut album. (Elektra saw "Fade To Black" as the track most likely to be played by rock radio, as it was much slower than the other album tracks. Radio didn't take the bait, but that certainly didn't hamper METALLICA's eventual world domination.)
This particular twelve inch single may have been the first promotional item issued by what was then the band's new label. The regular black vinyl twelve inch promo for "Fade To Black" is rare enough, but this glow-in-the-dark vinyl version is quite a find indeed. Very much sought after by METALLICA collectors around the world.
Still in the clear sleeve with informational sticker dated January 25, 1985, and a quote from WQFM, Milwaukee musical director about why stations shouldn't be afraid to play this track. "Fade To Black" 6:56 vocal/lp version on both sides.
