1985 recording made by Mr. Drums, Buddy Rich and His Big Band. Originally by Cafe Records (A division of MFSL), this big three album set is LONG out of print and growing harder to find - especially in this nice a condition.

This Original Master Recording was made using the half-speed production process. The pressing was sourced from the original stereo analog master tapes. The disc was specially plated and pressed on high definition Super Vinyl by the Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. These are considered by audiophiles to be among the finest recordings ever produced and very limited in quantity.

Trifold sleeve is beautiful... looks like it was just removed from it's plastic sleeve. Corners are nice and spine rolls slightly backward. All inserts and protective sleeves are here and are like new. All three records show no spindle marks on the label. Vinyl looks like new and plays beautifully.

Review: Drummer Buddy Rich's final recording (he would pass away exactly two years from the day before this recording took place) does a superb job of summing up the career of his big band. This three-LP set, all recorded during a gig in San Francisco, serves as a fine retrospective, with the highlights including remakes of "One O'Clock Jump," "Love for Sale," "Mexicali Nose," "Cotton Tail," "New Blues," Channel One Suite" and the famous "West Side Story Medley."

Steve Marcus (on tenor and soprano) is the main soloist, although there are also significant spots for pianist Bill Cunliffe, trombonist Scott Bliege, trumpeter Paul Phillips and the still-incredible drummer. This out-of-print three-fer (put out by the audiophile Mobile Fidelity label) is definitely worth searching for and is a perfect ending to Buddy Rich's remarkable career.
