BING CROSBY “Bing Sings Whilst Bregman Swings

This is Bing’s first Album on the Verve label and part of the Jazz At The Philharmonic Series. Recorded in 1956 but not released until 1963, Bing is in top form with this swinging selection of classic songs backed by Bregman’s hand-picked Hollywood Orchestra which includes Harry “Sweets” Edison, Herb Geller, Maynard Ferguson, Bud Shank, Frank Rosolino, Pete Candoli, Conrad Gozzo -just to name a few.

BING SINGS WHILST BREGMAN SWINGS is simply spectacular. The arrangements by Bregman simply swing. The way the recording track selection puts you in a mood to sing, dance and just enjoy Bing's voice is indescribable. Bing starts with the song, Mountain Greenery then moves into one of the most swingin numbers you will ever listen to Heat Wave.

I want to tell you this recording is on par with anything Sinatra ever recorded. In the opinion of Mymusicfix, this is, if not one of the best swing albums, the best ever made. You can see why Bing Crosby was the idol for not only Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin but for generations. Bing everyone must remember still has the record for most #1 single hits ever 39. HANK CRAWFORD - SOUL OF THE BALLAD

This Memphis-born musician and composer earned his initial fame in the late 50s as a member of Ray Charles groups. Breaking out on his own in 1963 he released Soul Of The Ballad, a soulful combination of blues, mellow tunes and funky tracks. Originally released on Atlantic, Soul Of The Ballad portrays Crawfords innate ability to add a blues coloration to his jazz performances, something not many modern jazzmen can do successfully.

OSCAR PETERSON - MILT JACKSON - VERY TALL

When Milt Jackson met Oscar Peterson, each had already made dozens of albums under his own name. Yet in this summit meeting each selflessly yields the spotlight to showcase the other. Jackson's meeting here with Ray Brown, though, was a reunion: They had both been in Dizzy Gillespie's 1946 band and then were charter members of the Modern Jazz Quartet. This is such a landmark recording that it has led to three sequel albums.
