Description

This is a beautiful NM copy of Elton John's masterpiece, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" in a special audiophile limited edition pressing by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. It has a very low serial number of #0166 out of 5000. This Original Master Recording is my copy, which I bought new back in the 1980s and have played it maybe a dozen times. It is an absolutely stunning recording of (in my opinion) Elton John's best record. "Funeral for a Friend" is guaranteed to make you cry it sounds so good. The songwriting and playing of Elton John and Bernie Taupin are at their pinnacle on this record. Don't worry about buying a sealed copy and feeling guilty about ripping it open. This one's already open and about as close to mint as you're going to get. And the low serial number of 0166 really means something on these records. A higher serial number equals more pressings made on the master plate which equals more micro-damage to it, yielding a lesser pressing as the pressings continue on. Lower numbers correspond with much purer sound because of less damage to the press plate. Lower number = better pressing. Plain and simple. If you're an audiophile purist, it's all about the early pressings. A used (but well taken care of) copy at #0166 is going to be superior to a sealed copy at #3000. As someone who collects MFSL records, I find this pressing to be one of the finest Original Master Recordings I own or have ever heard. If a primo copy of this record has been on your wish list, stop wishing, start bidding. It is near mint both records and cover.
