Description
Up for auction, as pictured, the ultimate advance in the art of the analog recording process, The UHQR, by legendary audiophile recording label MFSL. The UHQR's were a limited edition of 5,000 pressings and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Needless to say they are out of print and very rare. Captured here on pristine 200 gram virgin vinyl is Sir George Solti’s remarkable rendition of Gustav Holst’s most famous opus, The Planets. The London Philharmonic Orchestra gives a tour de force performance under the baton of Sir George Solti. Side 1 contains MARS-the bringer of war, VENUS-the bringer of peace, MERCURY-the winged messenger, JUPITER-the bringer of jollity. Side 2 features SATURN- the bringer of old age, URANUS-the magician, NEPTUNE-the mystic. This is a big-time synphonic performance that really benifits from the UHQR treatment. The Ladies of the London Philharmonic Choir provide the choral effects. Recorded in February of 1978 in Kingsway Hall, London, the catalog number is MFQR1-510.
Mobil Fidelity Sound Labs pulled out all the stops by introducing the Ultra High Quality Record, and redefined what a modern stereo recording could sound like. Every step of the process from half-speed mastering, to the 200g Japan pressed vinyl, and the archival library style linen box is first rate. No expense was spared to deliver an heirloom quality package that will be treasured for generations. The MFSL LP and sleeve are housed inside an inner protective sleeve that then goes inside a MFSL dust jacket. All this is cradled gently between two sheets of high-density foam to protect this special recording. An owner’s manual, certificate of authenticity and registration card round out the most impressive LP package you are ever going to encounter.
All the items that were included with this LP when I purchased it new are included, so you are getting the complete package. The LP has been played a half dozen times and is in new condition. Whether you are an audiophile, vinyl collector, music lover or all the above, do not miss out on this opportunity to own the Holy Grail of analog vinyl LP’s, The UHQR!
