GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : innanzitutto una precisazione. La copia in asta è la seconda stampa della colonna sonora uscita in data 6/12/1978 come riportato sulla cera morta nei pressi dell'etichetta. La prima rara stampa uscì un anno pria e si distingue per la copertina i cartone rigido, il numero della copia dato che si trattava di un'edizione limitata di 500 album oltre ad alcuni dettagli sull'etichetta. Ho detto tutto questo per cercare di aiutare i collezionisti in cerca della prima stampa originale dato che ho spesso notato dichiarare da venditori che ignoravano la questione una copia uguale a quella che ho messo ora in asta come prima stampa.

Ottimi brani funk dalle eccitanti sonorità si alternano a temi prevalentemente cupi e di tensione. Troviamo bella musica funk in "Big Fight" (a1) guidato da percussioni, fiati e piano elettrico, "Senza Via d'Uscita" (a4) che partendo da un buon fraseggio della batteria e da suoni ostinati delle tastiere si apre successivamente a un agitato ritmo funk, "Running to the Airport" (b1) caratterizzato dall'aggressività sonora della sezione fiati e dal buon lavoro del piano Rhodes, "Fiato Sospeso" (b5) con flauto, batteria e ottoni in prominenza. Infine, il miglior brano funk dell'album a mio modesto avviso: "Affanno" (b7) ricco di belle improvvisazioni del flauto supportato da basso e batteria, ottima chitarra e potente intervento degli strumenti a fiato. Tra le altre tracce: "Droga e Paura" (a3) basata su una certa sperimentalità musicale: rumori, effetti sonori e suoni brevissimi si mischiano creando un'atmosfera da incubo, "Pronti per l'Agguato" (a6) che riflette una forte tensione sottolineato dalle percussioni e dalle tastiere con un ritmo velocissimo, "Caccia al Cinese" (b4), lungo tema raffigurante uno stato d'ossessione dall'andamento lento condotto dalle tastiere con qualche effetto sonoro e la batteria in sottofondo.

Notes : first a clarification. The copy in the auction is the second pressing of the soundtrack printed in December 6, 1978 as reported on the dead wax near the label. The rare first release came out a year before and is distinguished for the hard cardboard cover, the numbered copy since it was a limited edition of 500 albums as well as some details on the label. I told all this to try to help the collectors looking of the first original LP since I noticed often some sellers who ignored the question to declare a same copy I have put now in auction just like first pressing.

Excellent funk tunes from exciting sonorities alternate with predominantly dark and tense themes. We find nice funk music in "Big Fight" (a1) led by percussion, brass instruments and electric piano, "Senza Via d'Uscita" (a4) which, starting from a good drumming and  the persistent sound by the keyboards opens later to a lively funk rhythm, "Running to the Airport" (b1) characterized by sound aggressiveness of the brass section and the good performance of the Rhodes piano, "Fiato Sospeso" (b5) with flute, drums and brass in prominence. Finally, in my humble opinion the best funk track on of the album: "Affanno" (b7) full of beautiful improvisations of the flute backed by bass and drums, great guitar and powerful action of the brass instruments. Among the other tracks: "Droga e Paura" (a3) based on a certain music experimentation where sound effects, noises and short sonorities are mixed creating a nightmarish atmosphere, "Pronti per l'Agguato" (a6) reflecting strong tension underlined by the percussion and keyboards with a very fast rhythm, "Caccia al Cinese" (b4), long theme depicting a state of obsession by the slow development led by the keyboards with some sound effects and the drums in the background.
