MICHAEL FRANKS

“Michael Franks”

Brut      6005

1973

FIRST PRESSING VINYL LP.  (NO legit CD has ever been released).

THIS IS THE ONLY COPY OF THIS RARITY ON EBAY AS OF 6-21-2016.

This copy is in gorgeous shape. It is Michael Franks’ first LP release, and is on the obscure Brut label (see below for additional info).  Extremely hard to find, this is NOT a cutout. The original retail sales tag is still adhered to the shrink wrap.  In 1983, this LP was reissued by the DRG label (talk about obscure!) under the title “Previously Unavailable” but THIS IS THE ORIGINAL.

It was 3 years later before Franks’ next LP was released, “The Art of Tea” on Warners and he exploded onto the FM scene.  His fans are known for their loyalty and devotion and his music continues to sell onto the 20teens.

I picked this up at Foodway in San Antonio (a food supermarket that sold new albums for $1 less than record shops and department stores at that time) and have stored it vertically in a smoke free environment for 43 years.  Jump on this one if ya like Michael Franks.  It’s killa.

BRUT RECORDS:  (Both Sides Now web site says:  “This very small label had a short life of one or two years, and was distributed by Buddah Records. Its main claim to fame was to have released the first Michael Franks album (1973) before he moved to Warner”).
