Cult US psych folk singer/ songwriter and visual artist Michael Hurley's debut album was recorded for Folkways Records in 1965. He was subsequently championed by boyhood friend Jesse Colin Young, who released his 1971 Armchair Boogie album - featuring his often-covered song The Werewolf - on The Youngbloods' Warner Bros imprint, Raccoon. In the late 1970s Hurley made three albums for Rounder including Have Moicy, a collaboration with the Unholy Modal Rounders and Jeffrey Frederick & The Clamtones which was named "the greatest folk album of the rock era" by The Village Voice. Blue Navigator - now the title of a Hurley magazine - was next up in 1984 and is very rare: Rooster Records expired after fire destroyed their offices (and the Blue Navigator master). As with many of his albums, Hurley did his own artwork.
