Description
Hi! You're looking at a great condition 1959 FIRST PRESSING (NOT a reissue) of a classic recording by the legendary violinist MICHAEL RABIN titled "Mosaics"--the album captures Rabin at the height of his powers and features a collection of twelve miniatures with the piano accompaniment of LEON POMMERS and includes compositions by CHOPIN, WIENIAWSKI, MOMPOU, SCRIABIN, DEBUSSY, SARASATE, ELGAR, ENGEL, RAVEL, PROKOFIEV and SUK. The LP is on the Capitol Records label with the serial number P 8506 and is a 1st PRESSING and a Full Dimensional Sound (FDS) high fidelity monophonic pressing made in the United States in 1959.
This LP is in great condition and the vinyl is in VG+ condition on side one and plays very well, with a few slight hairline marks and some paper scuffs which produce some light tics and pops of a relatively short duration in a few spots and slight background noise during a few quieter passages, and in NEAR MINT- (Ex) condition on side two with fewer scuffs and only a couple of light tics in one or two spots and slight background noise in a couple of quieter passages (this record has been SOUND-GRADED IN ITS ENTIRETY and in my opinion is a wonderful listening experience, and the occasional tics and pops don't overwhelm the quality of the music and there are NO skips--this is obviously a very spare recording as a duet LP); the cover is in VG+ condition with beautiful front and back surfaces that have just very light shelfwear, a full split on the spine end, a 3 inch split on the upper opneing edge, a small ding on the lower opening edge, and a clean 1 1/2 inch split on the lower center edge--it's NOT a cutout!
Vinyl Grading Standards (unless otherwise indicated, LPs are visually graded)
Mint (or M) – Sealed and effectively perfect with no signs of wear or ever having been played.
Near Mint -- A record with only the slightest evidence of ever having been handled.
Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) A very clean record that has no marks aside from slight scuffs and abrasions caused by removal from a paper inner sleeve or perhaps a few marks on the label caused by a turntable spindle.
Very Good Plus (VG+) A record that has had a number of plays and may have some superficial scuffs, possibly mild to moderate spindle marks and / or possibly hairline scratches on the vinyl, which may produce some intermittent pops and possibly very light background noise.
Very Good (VG) A record that has generally been well cared for, but has seen a fair amount of play, with some scuffing. hairline scratches, spindle marks and / or light scratches. Should play through well, with the possibility of more pops and more background noise.
Very Good Minus (VG-) A record with significant scuffs, scratches, and spindle marks that should play through with moderate pops and surface noise, possibly of some duration.
Good (G) A record with will play through, but with significant pops, substantial background noise, and possibly intermittent skipping.
Poor (P) A record with MAJOR issues that will interfere with play, and will possibly be unplayable in part due to damage (I'll only offer an LP in this condition if it's an extreme rarity and / or for cover art display purposes).
