Mike & the Mechanics - British Music Industry Award

 

This is a genuine Gold Award issued by Virgin Records for 100,000 sales in the UK of the album ‘Beggar on a Beach of Gold’.  It was presented in 1995 to a UK Radio station.  The award is in a gold metal frame measuring 16x16 inches (40x40cms) and is in good condition.  The plaque mounted on the award reads:

of more than 100,000 copies of the

VIRGIN ALBUM “BEGGAR ON A BEACH OF GOLD”

1995

 

This award was produced by Framous, the official BPI (British Phonographic Industry) award manufacturer.  These awards were only presented within the music industry, and should not be confused with any kind of replica or ‘limited edition’ discs that are sold direct to the public.   

 

Music memorabilia dealer, Eil, has another copy of this award priced at £275.  So this is a great opportunity to own this rare industry award at a more reasonable price.
