The cover is, more or less,  in EX condition, normal wear and without any major deterioration but light discolouration/wear/wrinkles on/near right corners (where missing shrink), left spine is fully readable; for details see photos. The vinyl is in EX condition [barely played].

MIKE NESS

The frontman for punk survivors Social Distortion, singer/guitarist Mike Ness was born April 3, 1962, in Stoneham, MA. Raised primarily in Orange County, CA, he was kicked out of his parents' house at age 15 and spent the years which followed in and out of jail and experimenting with drugs; after forming Social D in 1979, Ness' struggles with addiction deepened, and after recording the now-classic Mommy's Little Monster in 1983, his self-destructive lifestyle (vividly captured in the 1985 documentary Another State of Mind) nearly broke up the band. After getting clean and sober, Ness reconvened Social D for 1988's rootsy Prison Bound, followed in 1990 by the group's self-titled major-label debut, which launched the hit "Ball and Chain." After 1992's Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, however, the band went on an extended hiatus, not resurfacing until White Light, White Heat, White Trash four years later. In 1999, Ness made his solo debut with Cheating at Solitaire. A covers collection, Under the Influences, followed later that same year.

As lead singer and songwriter of punk mainstays Social Distortion for the past 21 years, Mike Ness always possessed an innate understanding of the connection between punk and country. Social Distortion's music has always been thrashy and twangy, a marriage furthered by Ness' self-destructive past and rockabilly personal style.

With his second solo album release of 1999 (the first is an album of rockabilly influenced originals, Cheating at Solitaire), Under the Influences showcases Ness' love of roots music with a collection of tunes originally written by legends such as Hank Williams Sr., Marty Robbins, and Carl Perkins. The arrangements include traditional fiddles and autoharps, but it's tempered by buzzy guitars for a nice contemporary mix. With repeated listens, Ness' voice seems monotonous compared to the pure country croon of the original artists. But covers are all about interpretation, and what Ness lacks in vocal finesse he makes up for with feeling. These tales of heartache and regret are ideally suited to him and beloved by him...(AllMusic)
