Here's How it was done: FOR THE 45 SPEED PRESSINGS
Using only the original analog master tapes, the renowned team of Steve Hoffman & Kevin Gray remastered and cut all of the titles at AcousTech Mastering, which features a pure Class-A disc-cutting system. AcousTech is located at Record Technology, Inc. the plant where the vinyl was pressed. It is a tremendous sonic advantage to have the pressing plant plating department & mastering room in the same facility as Steve & Kevin could cut a lacquer and plated immediately. This prevents the degradation of the grooves in a lacquer which is very fragile to quick deterioration.
And of course cutting at 45 speed is the audiophile choice for the highes quality. A 45-RPM record is sonically superior to a 33 1/3 variety because of a 35 percent reduction of groove curvature compared to a 33 1/3 cut.. It means that while you can't fit as much music into a 45, the undukations of the groove that your cartridge has to track are stretched over a longer distance. For these reissues, the music was displaced onto four sides, meaning each side contains about 10 minutes of music.
This is the ultimate reissues. The only way you'll get closer to this classic music is to listen to the master tapes or have been in the studio with the artist originally during the actual session.
WORKIN WITH MILES DAVIS -
Undeniably one of the best small bands in the history of jazz, the Miles Davis quintet of the mid-1950s made history at the Cafe Bohemia on Manhattan's Barrow Street and in the New Jersey studio of Rudy Van Gelder for Prestige. This is the 3rd in a series of four LPs taped in two marathon studio sessions, done in the style of sets at the Bohemia, producing music of high energy and immediacy. This is a mix of standards and originals, up-tempos and ballads, and a trio number, "Ahmad's Blues." Miles is the sole survivor of this quintet but the music made in the mid-50's period will live forever. The excitement of the emerging John Coltrane; the informed, melodic swing of Red Garland; the tremendous snap and pop of the rhythm trio of Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, and Miles' poignancy and intense swing. Recording engineered by Rudy Van Gelder.Track Listings

MILES DAVIS MODERN JAZZ GIANTS - 45 Speed – 2 Sealed LP Set –
Here are four tunes from one of the classic sessions of all time when a combination of giants gathered in Rudy Van Gelder's studio for a historic meeting on Christmas Eve afternoon, 1954. With Thelonious Monk and three-quarters of the Modern Jazz Quartet (Jackson, Heath and Clarke) as his accomplices, Miles blends sophisticated harmonic knowledge with raw, spontaneous invention to produce extraordinary music. The two takes of "The Man I Love" are quite different within their basic similarity.Track Listings

MILES DAVIS ALL STARS WALKIN
45 Speed – 2 Sealed LP Set –
This title contains two of the classic Miles Davis sessions of 1954 which made all the critics who hailed his appearance at the 1955 Newport Jazz Festival a "comeback" seem like a pack of Rip Van Winkles."Walkin'" and "Blue 'n' Boogie" are quintessential blues jams. The solos by Davis, J.J. Johnson, Lucky Thompson and Horace Silver are electric and the ensemble punches powerfully. The date with Bird-fancier Davey Schildkraut finds Miles' magic mute materializing in front of the fine Silver/Percy Heath/Kenny Clarke rhythm section.

THE NEW MILES DAVIS QUINTET - MONO
This is the first LP to be issued featuring the Miles Davis Quintet — a group that was to become one of the most influential small bands of the Fifties. It also introduced John Coltrane to the jazz public, launching him on his significant career. Davis’ singular mastery with a mute, exemplified on The Musings of Miles, is further emphasized, as is Red Garland’s penchant for picking “new” old standards for Miles.Mastered by Kevin Gray.

You should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.

"This painterly masterpiece is one of the most important, influential and popular albums in jazz. At the time it was made, Kind of Blue was also a revolution all its own. Turning his back on standard chord progressions, trumpeter Miles Davis used modal scales as a starting point for composition and improvisation — breaking new ground with warmth, subtlety and understatement in the thick of hard bop." - www.rollingstone.com

Cookin'
was the first album to be released of the famed extended recording sessions of the Miles Davis Quintet, wherein they taped the band's basic repertoire (and what a marvelous mixture of jazz originals and standards) in the manner of nightclub sets rather than the repetition of the usual studio takes. The album excited listeners not only with its contents but with its promise of more to come. Davis, Coltrane, Garland, Chambers and Philly Joe Jones; one of the classic groups in the history of jazz. It established a level of excellence that was to foster a long, successive line of outstanding Davis quintets and sextets through the 50s and 60s.
From the muted eloquence of My Funny Valentine, through the finger-poppin' Blues By Five, to the urgent swing of Airegin and Tune Up, Cookin' has the ability to thrill the listener no matter how many times it is played - the mark of an all-time great performance.
Mastered by Kevin Gray.

STEAMIN -
All of the stylistic elements that made Miles Davis’ 1956 quintet one of the immortal bands in jazz history are on display in this collection. “Surrey with the Fringe on Top” and “Diane” are medium-tempo standards that highlight the contrast between the leader’s Harmon-muted horn, the explorations of John Coltrane’s tenor sax and Red Garland’s sparkling piano. “Salt Peanuts” and “Well, You Needn’t,” each a modern jazz classic, allow for intense swinging over the beat of Paul Chambers’ bass and Philly Joe Jones’ drums. And “Something I Dreamed Last Night” and “When I Fall in Love” give us vulnerable, visceral ballad playing by Davis that remains unsurpassed
