Description
Up for auction is a very nice copy of the Miles Davis album "Birth Of The Cool" released on Capitol Records (T 762) in 1957. This is an original, mono first pressing, not one of the many reissue or re-packagings. Original turquoise Capitol label. Cover is in really nice shape. Lamination is overall its original glossy black with only a hint of rubbing. Upper left corner is slightly chipped. All corners sharp, unbumped. No seam splits, no age discoloration, no writing. Back cover is a nice bone white, as it should be, with only a couple small spots in lower right (hard to see in photo and in person). Overall, I'd grade the cover Excellent Plus (EX+). The vinyl is also in really nice shape. Retains its original high gloss shine. Does have one small, faint hairline on Side One, and a longer hairline on Side Two. Neither can be felt, nor do they affect the quality of the sound play back. Labels clean and bright, no marks around spindle holes, indicating very little previous play. I've play tested this record, and overall it sounds excellent, no repeating ticks or clicks, no skips. There is some very faint surface noise in a few places, but nothing that overwhelms the music or distracts from the overall experience. I'd grade the vinyl EX (Excellent). A very nice copy of this essential jazz classic. It should be in every collector's archive.
