Rare "360 Sound" Stereo "2-Eye" Columbia Pressing in Nice Condition!
Stereo Original US Double-Lp with 2-Eye "360 Sound" Labels
which is a truly rare find in its thick Gatefold Cover of this legendary
and wild Psychedelic Voodoo Space Jazz sonic adventure here in
Excellent + Condition* and even includes both original Columbia
Records paper inner sleeves + the LPs have -1 Matrix Numbers

this Lp was issued on the cusp of Columbia Records label design
changeover, and almost all copies were pressed on non-360 labels
and only few copies of this album that turn up with the first pressing
"360 Sound" Columbia "Two Eye" labels (far cooler graphically!) and
it has been said that maybe only one in every hundred copies (even
the later pressings are now hard to find!) and we've never found
a copy in as nice condition as this, so don't pass on this copy!

~ Condition ~


records are in Excellent + Condition* and have been
fully Play Tested and mostly Sounds Fantastic and plays with
no skips or repeats and with a warm full loud tone with just
faint crackle and occasional pops during just a few of the
very quietest passages (near the beginning of the song
"Bitches Brew" it gets really mellow and quiet, and here briefly
there is quiet crackle and some soft pops* and at two spots
during the very last song "Sanctuary" there are small marks*
in the vinyl that briefly cause tics and light crackle during
quiet passages.) but otherwise has shiny clean vinyl with
just the slightest visible wear & has bright clean
wear-free labels with no writing or markings

cover is in Excellent Condition with bold bright
printing and has no seam splits, writing or markings
but does have a little wear to the corners & edges
and also has some visible ringwear in places. the two
original Columbia inner-sleeves are in nice shape

displays well & mostly plays nicely!

~ Additional Info ~


"Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis is a sprawling turned-on affair
that is thought by many to be the most revolutionary album in jazz
history, having virtually created the genre known as jazz-rock fusion
(for better or worse) and being "the" jazz album to most influence
rock musicians, Bitches Brew is, by its very nature, mercurial. This vintage
double LP included only six cuts and featured up to 12 musicians at any
given time, most of whom would go on to be high-level players in their own
right. Producer Teo Macero had as much to do with the end product on
Bitches Brew as Davis. Macero and Davis assembled much of the music
recorded over three days in August 1969. First, there's the slow, modal
opening grooves of "Pharaoh's Dance," with its slippery trumpet lines to
McLaughlin's snaky guitar figures skirting the edge of the rhythm section
and Don Alias' conga slipping through the middle. The keyboards of Corea
and Zawinul create a haunting, riffing groove echoed and accented by the
two basses of Harvey Brooks and Dave Holland. The title cut (Bitches Brew)
was originally composed as a five-part suite, though only three were used.
Here the keyboards punch through the mix, big chords and distorted
harmonics ring up a racket for Davis to solo over rhythmically outside the
mode. McLaughlin is comping on fat guitar chords, creating the groove
and the bass and drums carry the rest for a small taste of deep-voodoo funk
and then Side three opens with McLaughlin and Davis trading funky fours
and eights over the lock-step hypnotic groove of "Spanish Key." Zawinul's
trademark melodic sensibility provides a kind of chorus for Corea to flat
around, and the congas and drummers working in complement against the
basslines. This nearly segues into the 4 1/2 minute "John McLaughlin" with
its signature organ mode and arpeggiated blues guitar runs. The end of
Bitches Brew, signified by the stellar "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down," echoes
the influence of Jimi Hendrix; with its chuck-and-slip chords and lead figures
and Davis playing a ghostly melody through the shimmering funkiness of
the rhythm section, it literally dances and becomes increasingly more chaotic
until about nine minutes in, where it falls apart. Yet one doesn't know it
until near the end, when it simmers down into smoke-and-ice fog once
more. The album closes with "Sanctuary," a previously recorded Davis tune
that is completely redone here as an electric moody ballad reworked
for this band, but keeping enough of its modal integrity to be
outside the rest of Bitches Brew's retinue.

Bitches Brew retains its freshness and mystery long after its release.

since everyone has their own ideas about grading the condition
of records, we've decided to spell out how we do it. our descriptions are
also extremely thorough & individually note flaws that a generic condition grade
cannot. we also occasionally assign a + and - for in-between grades

Mint

perfect, never played & usually still factory sealed

Near Mint

nearly perfect with almost no signs of handling

Excellent

the slightest visual wear that in no way interferes with the sound

 Very Good +

light visible signs of handling & wear but well taken care of
and plays with only mellow occasional crackle and/or soft pops but 
nothing interfering with enjoying the record/artwork

Very Good

obviously used & handled, but not mishandled, with no skips,
repeats or bad noise, but with noticeable crackle, pops & soft tics or
artwork defects, but nothing too bad overall

 Very Good -

considerable visible wear & background noise with possible
skips, repeats, tics and cover flaws, but still enjoyable & would
be obviously well-used and somewhat mishandled

So-So

anything below VG- which we rarely sell, except
for really rare records that are worth listing only because
they're so hard to find & sought-after in any condition

Disclaimer

not everyone's turntable sounds & functions the same, but we
have a nice sensitive set-up that makes flaws very obvious to us and we try
to note everything we ear and see. while vinyl is an awesome sounding format,
there is almost always some sort of background noise while listening to a
record. we are just about as picky as anyone, so trust us
but be sure to read our descriptions carefully!
