Description
💎 THE HOLY GRAIL OF STUDIO ARTIFACTS: MILES DAVIS ACETATE
Presented by The Archive Records, this is a singular piece of jazz history. This is not a mass-produced vinyl record; it is an original 12" Reference Acetate cut at the legendary United Artists Recording Studio (8715 West Third Street, Los Angeles) on May 2, 1977.
Why This Is Absolutely Unique:
Acetates (or lacquers) are the very first physical step in the record-making process. They are typically cut in quantities of one or two for engineers and producers to evaluate a master before mass production.
-
One-of-a-Kind: Unlike a standard "First Pressing" where thousands exist, this is a unique studio object. It is highly probable that fewer than 5 copies of this specific disc were ever cut.
-
The "1501" Pedigree: This disc contains the foundational 1952–1954 sessions for Miles Davis Volume 1 (Blue Note BLP 1501).
-
Studio Provenance: Cut at the same facility used by Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, and Marvin Gaye. The handwritten/typed "United Artists" labels provide undeniable authenticity of its 1977 origin during the UA/Blue Note era.
Personnel Included on These Tracks:
-
Miles Davis (Trumpet)
-
Art Blakey (Drums)
-
Jackie McLean (Alto Sax)
-
Bud Powell (Piano)
-
Oscar Pettiford / Percy Heath (Bass)
Condition: Near Mint (NM)
The lacquer surface is in extraordinary condition, appearing virtually unplayed. It retains its original high-gloss mirror finish. Acetates are notoriously fragile and easily scratched; finding one from 1977 in this "Vault" state is a statistical anomaly.
-
Surface: Flawless gloss, no visible marks.
-
Labels: Crisp, original studio-typed labels with date (5-2-77) and tracklist.
-
Storage: Housed in its original brown paper studio sleeve and kept in a climate-controlled environment.
The "Vault" Collection: The Audiophile Series
