Description
Hi! You're looking at an excellent overall condition 2 LP Vinyl Set issued in 1985 on the Swedish Dragon Records label, a FIRST PRESSING and a remarkable live recording from the Konserthunset, Stockholm made on March 22, 1960 by THE MILES DAVIS QUINTET featuring JOHN COLTRANE on tenor saxophone, WYNTON KELLY on piano, PAUL CHAMBERS on bass and JIMMY COBB on drums--the recording has brilliant sound and features particularly free playing by John Coltrane (who was in his last days with the Quintet) and incredibly tight and brilliant playing by the rhythm section of Kelly, Chambers and Cobb (who were also soon to leave the Davis Quintet to form a trio which went on to provide frequent support for guitarist Wes Montgomery). The LP is a Dragon Records issue with the serial number DRLP 90/91; it's a monophonic-only recording and was issued in Sweden in 1985 and is a 1st PRESSING issue.
This 2 LP Set is in excellent overall condition and Record One is in VG+ overall condition and plays very well overall, with a single deep scuff on the first track and first part of the second track on side one which produces some light tics in a few spots (most prominently during the bass solo at the end of track one and the slow opening on track two) and just a few light scuffs otherwise that should not significantly affect play but no other significant flaws; Record Two is in VG++ condition and should play extremely well with a couple of deep scuffs on the runout groove of side one which will NOT affect play, a very small scuff which can be felt slightly on the center of side one which may possibly produce a few light tics and just some light scuffs otherwise. The deluxe gatefold cover is in NEAR MINT- condition with a couple of very light thumb creaes on the front surface, slight dings on the tips and just very light shelfwaer otherwise--it's NOT a cutout! The two original plain white inner sleeves are also included and in beautiful condition.
Vinyl Grading Standards (unless otherwise indicated, LPs are visually graded)
Mint (or M) – Sealed and effectively perfect with no signs of wear or ever having been played.
Near Mint -- A record with only the slightest evidence of ever having been handled.
Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) A very clean record that has no marks aside from slight scuffs and abrasions caused by removal from a paper inner sleeve or perhaps a few marks on the label caused by a turntable spindle.
Very Good Plus (VG+) A record that has had a number of plays and may have some superficial scuffs, possibly mild to moderate spindle marks and / or possibly hairline scratches on the vinyl, which may produce some intermittent pops and possibly very light background noise.
Very Good (VG) A record that has generally been well cared for, but has seen a fair amount of play, with some scuffing. hairline scratches, spindle marks and / or light scratches. Should play through well, with the possibility of more pops and more background noise.
Very Good Minus (VG-) A record with significant scuffs, scratches, and spindle marks that should play through with moderate pops and surface noise, possibly of some duration.
Good (G) A record with will play through, but with significant pops, substantial background noise, and possibly intermittent skipping.
Poor (P) A record with MAJOR issues that will interfere with play, and will possibly be unplayable in part due to damage (I'll only offer an LP in this condition if it's an extreme rarity and / or for cover art display purposes).
A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this vinyl LP!
