Description
Out-of-print (10) LP boxset from The Miles Davis Quintet titled "The Complete Studio Recordings Of The Miles Davis Quintet 1965-June 1968" released by Mosaic Records (MQ10-177) in 1998. This set is a low numbered 0994 of 5,000 limited edition pressings on audiophile 180 gram quality vinyl. Has 56 tracks from this exceptional quintet that proved to be very productive for Miles in the studio, recording new material from 1965 - 1968. The quintet featured Miles on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor sax, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums. Most of the tracks in this set came from the studio sessions that produced the albums "E.S.P.", "Miles Smiles", "Sorcerer", "Nefertiti", "Water Babies", "Miles In The Sky", "Filles De Kilimanjaro"...plus others. Several tracks of alternate takes, unissued rehearsals, etc... All vinyl records are in plastic dust sleeves. Comes with a 24-page booklet with photos and well-written, informative details about the formation of the quintet and the its growth as a working unit. As you well know, all of Mosaic's releases are of the utmost quality and taste.
Details of the condition: All labels are in EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT condition with a few labels having very slight spindle marks...most look brand new! Record Four has Side B labels on both sides (a rare manufacturing error by Mosaic). Vinyl records were played with great care on a high quality turntable and condition ranges from MINT- to NEAR MINT...very few sides show any slight signs of handling. Most sides look unplayed!
Booklet is in MINT condition.
Outer box is in NEAR MINT condition. Very Nice!
