Description
MILES DAVIS - ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT
1957 - UK PHILIPS MONO - BBL 7140.
Very rare original 1957 uk MONO first pressing. The vinyl weight Is much heavier than most, being: 220G. A great quality, thick pressed heavyweight vinyl album. Original uk MONO first pressings of this 'Miles Davis' album, do not surface for sale very often at all.
The vinyl Is still In pretty decent condition. There are no really nasty deep marks, scuffs, or scratches. Both sides still have a nice sheen. There are just some extremely fine light top surface hairlines, & just a couple of short mild scratch lines. The first track of SIDE 1 plays with some light repeated background tics for around a minute, these are not overly loud pops or clicks, they are light background tics, some audible, & some behind the music, so lot loud, & they really do not really spoil the listening experience. The remainder of the album plays & sounds great to me, there Is barely any other surface noise to be heard, just some occasional very light background static, there are no other scratch marks to cause any other repeated background tics. The sound quality Is still really good throughout all tracks, with no real noticeable lessening In the audio, still sounds great. I guess the vinyl play grades around the very good+ mark.
This Is a detailed & honest description of this albums playback on my system. I have a NAD 5120 turntable with Ortofon stylus, a NAD 3020B AMP, & Wharfdale Diamond 9.1 speakers, a mainly old & modest set up compared to some, but the album sounds pretty damn good on It. There are no nasty unmentioned playback surprises waiting for the winning bidder.
The matt black Philips labels are In nice clean condition. There are a few spindle traces to both sides, but no real faults to mention.
The sleeve Is fully laminated, & has top & bottom flip-backs on the rear. This sleeve Is pretty thin. It Is still In one piece, but does have a few faults & flaws. The lamination has blistered & peeled at the front / top / right corner. There Is also a 10cm tear In the same area, pretty near the top edge. There are also a couple of other small areas where the lamination has blistered & peeled a little at the covers opening edge. The back cover Is still pretty clean. There Is another tear at the centre at the opening edge, this has been repaired with a little piece of clear tape. The spine has quite a lot of wear, & has a few scuffed, scruffy, fluffy areas, & has almost worn through In a a few places. The top & bottom edges also has a few small spots of wear. So, this sleeve Is not In the best condition, but It Is still In one piece, & looks a little better when placed Inside a protective plastic cover.
The white poly-lined Inner sleeve Is not the original. But It is In excellent clean condition, with no marks, rips, or splits.
I will only send this Item by recorded post. I pack my records very well. I do not use record mailers. I use layers of very strong rigid cardboard. The Item will reach you In the same condition as advertised & pictured.
