Some words on this issue: GRAVES, MILFORD featuring ARTHUR DOYLE: “Babi Music” (IPS – IPS-ST004) The ultimate Milford Graves disc… this is one of the most vicious, infernal free jazz epic discs ever to be put down on wax. In short this is Free Jazz Soul Music, star-dusted with magical, free-flowing vibrations. When the other players hit, at moments completely slamming – delirious Doyle sax eruptions of volcanic proportions augmented with ecstatic screaming, it feels like planets collide, cosmic forces at work, the Big Bang reversed. The band consists of Hugh Glover on reeds, Arthur Doyle on reeds and voice, and Milford Graves on drums, and they all sound totally crazed for the duration of the LP. A real high-water mark for the whole genre, and possibly Arthur Doyle’s finest hour.

Our grading scale: Mint/ Near Mint/ Excellent/ VG++/. We don’t sell anything below VG++. VG++ grade is basically that the record has some scuffs and has wear. Excellent: record has hardly no visible defects and is preserved with care and attention, the condition most collectors take pride in to file away. Near Mint: a dash below mint, just perfect. Mint: like new.
