Description

This is my VG / EX  condition UK ORIGINAL PINK ISLAND / ORANGE EYE copy of this VERY, VERY RARE ROCK STEADY LP - ILP 953. One of the TRUELY HARDEST TO FIND of all the UK ISLAND JAMAICAN related LPs. OK - I better stop there and explain. Of all the RARE UK PRESSED, JAMAICAN related LPs I have collected, this one was the last to be found, indeed, the hardest to find. I found The Ethiopians 1st LP and many other rarities, but nobody had seen a copy of this. A few had seen or owned the Trojan re-issue, but not the ORIGINAL ISLAND one! This is truely a rare LP and I have never actually seen another original copy. But who wants it today? I did, as someone trying to get a complete run of ISLAND originals (and failing - has anyone out there ever held Billie Holliday's LAST LIVE RECORDING in their hands along with, of course, THIS IS BLUE BEAT (ILP910?). Millie did the job of introducing the sound of SKA to us in England, but to my ears it kinda stopped there. I like her stuff with Jackie Edwards, which is OK, but her solo stuff was always just a little too sharp for my ears! Now, dear reader it is over to you! The vinyl is in great shape with only a couple of light surface type marks on Side 2. It plays great with just a little (dust) noise between the tracks. A clean on a modern machine would no doubt produce a great copy! The PINK labels are clean and tidy with no visible spindle marks. The non-laminated sleeve is from the same printer as the Drerrick Harriott 'Party' LP. (also listed by me at present). The spine is strong and firm and is fully readable. The sleeve is actually in great shape, but the nature of the soft catrd makes me grade it VG, The record opening edge has some light wear. There is a light crease at the bottom r/h corner. There is also a previous owner's name in neat tiny print at the top l/h corner. The white card, 'tabbed' rear sleeve is still WHITE, with just a light creases in the card, bottom right. If this sleeve had been laminated it would have easily been an EX. It has been handled, but it is the nature of the soft card used in it's manufacture that has led to any wear. SO RARE (in my experience!) and STILL A GREAT COPY OF THIS GENUINE RARITY!
