Description
MILSTEIN / PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA / LEINSDORF / BEETHOVEN - " VIOLIN CONCERTO IN D ", Columbia/EMI Records Ltd. (SAX 2508) Stereo, 1962.
Very rare English, early pressing, Stereo LP with the 'red-semi' label and front laminated, flip-back sleeve - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = EX- (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, no excessive surface noise, only light spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out a couple of very lightest of paper scuffs - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws do not correspond directly to any audible defects.
On playback, there is some faint surface noise during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which mostly disappears as soon as the music starts - although not enough to ruin the listening, there was some faint sporadic background noise audible from time to time throughout the first third of both sides of this LP. Generally it plays well though - strong, clean and without interuptions from clunks, clicks or distortion, etc.
Not quite an untouched museum piece or a sterile CD (thank goodness!), but a good honest copy of a great LP for someone out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intended.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EX- (This sleeve came evry close to a straight EX grading. No big creases, rips, tears, defacing, etc. Still in really good shape, but had to be marked down for wear and tiny creases along the edges and corners of the sleeve, plus a couple of other very light scuffs - see photos for further clarification)
