Milton Kelley: "Milton Kelley's Home Brew" 1970, USA/Two:Dot HRH71570. Disc is M-, cover is in broken shrink wrap with some light wear around the seams where the plastic has worn away, still EX. Best copy known to exist of this impossible to find rural folk psych album, which I believe ranks as the rarest California local label acoustic LP alongside F.J. McMahon. I'm not sure which is rarer, but I think this one will have a much wider appeal. There's a Great White Wonder/William C. Beeley outlaw flavor to some of the tracks while others with a more wistful melodic rural rock feel are clearly the raw DNA that spawned stuff like Relatively Clean Rivers. Milton is backed in various combinations by a second guitarist, hand drums and harmonica on many of the tracks. Not hillbilly despite the cover photo, that's simply a reflection of his rural California surroundings... no, this dude was the small town stoner prophet back from The War and letting his hair grow. Dig those self-penned liner notes about dropping out so he could sit around and jam with his buddies all day! With tracks like "Peyote Pete", "Sespe Man" and "Junkie Blues" there were clearly no plans to market this one beyond rock-throwing distance, so it won't surprise anyone to learn that only a handful of these were pressed up for his neighbors. Speaking as a guy who's been wading through private LPs for half his life, I think this is a one-in-a-million piece. It's not one of those dry "loner folk" LPs or square religious records that are getting hyped lately... I throw that crap back into the abyss where it belongs. This one is a long-haired Vietnam vet folk/rock hometown Americana micro-press... No more copies left at the source, no more copies left in the basement with the spiders, no more opportunities to bid on a clean copy for how many years...?

I pack/ship once a week, usually on Friday. I use sturdy cardboard boxes designed for shipping records, and I remove the disc from the cover to prevent seam splits during shipment.
