Description

THE MINDBENDERS ''WITH WOMAN IN MIND'' 1st UK PRESSING 1967 ((MONO)) CAT NO. TL.5403 FONTANA LABELS!! 'LOOK!' ONLY TWO PLAYS !! MEGA RARE LIKE THIS NEAR MINT VINYL PLAYING SURFACE NEAR MINT AUDIO!! AWESOME 1ST ISSUE LAMINATED FLIPBACK COVER! EARLIEST #1 #1 MATRIX ENDINGS!!

Another from my personal collection. This vinyl has been stored in a case from new!, with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve the way that I have always stored my records! I don't recall ever playing this awesome sounding album, visualy the playing surface is like new in my opinion and you can just barely see that this has had one or perhapes two plays only! Unbeleivably rare to find on a 42 year old vinyl like this!! There is no splits or tares on the 1st issue laminated front flipback cover and amaizingly (no) creases or nasty ringware just a 3-4mm stip of tape residue at the rear opening edge only. The vinyl was pressed from the earliest masters, top top near perfect mono audio on my systems without any ticks clicks or pops, very collectable and sought after like this!!!

The Mindbenders (originally the backing group for Wayne Fontana) was a 1960s beat group from Manchester, England. They were part of the mid 1960s British Invasion with their chart-toppers "Game of Love" and "A Groovy Kind of Love"!!

Wayne Fontana founded the band in 1963 with Bob Lang, Ric Rothwell, and Eric Stewart. The group was later joined by Grahame Foote. The name of the group was inspired by the title of a 1963 film, starring the British actor Sir Dirk Bogarde, called The Mind Benders. They released a few unsuccessful singles before recording "Um Um Um Um Um Um" in 1964, which was a major hit in Britain and led to a tour with Brenda Lee!. They also had a number one hit in the United States with "Game of Love!".

After a tour of America and some more unsuccessful singles, Fontana abruptly left the band in the middle of a concert in 1965. Guitarist Eric Stewart suddenly became the lead singer of the band, which immediately dropped "Wayne Fontana" from its name!!!.

The Mindbenders' first single without Fontana was the hit "Groovy Kind of Love" (a Carole Bayer Sager / Toni Wine composition). The song reached number two in the US, and sold one million copies globally. It was successfully revived by Phil Collins in the 1980s!!.

The Mindbenders made their final American tour in July 1966, kicking off in Atlanta, Georgia on Independence Day!, in front of a capacity 25,000 crowd, but they were only the support act.James Brown was the headliner !!

By this time Eric Stewart had developed into a strong songwriter in his own right, contributing one song ("My New Day and Age") to Family, but for singles the Mindbenders continued looking outside for new material.[ Their next project was a concept album, several months before Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, S.F. Sorrow and Tommy were issued. The Mindbenders release With Woman in Mind contained "I Want Her, She Wants Me", "Ashes to Ashes" plus the lascivious "Schoolgirl"; and this was unreleased in the US making this a rare collectable and a must for avid Mindbender collectors!!!!

The Vinyl

This is the original heavier and thicker type of vinyl and lays perfectly flat on the turntable and looks awesome, in fact it is hard to see a blemish on the playing surface!!!

On initial inspection the vinyl looks awesome! Still retaining its original sheen from new!! Any marks that could possibly be seen in strong light would only be sleeve removal only (No) audio sounding marks or scratches at all, in fact it is hard to see that this vinyl has ever been played at all in my opinion!! Unbeleivable for 43 years old! THESE HAVE ABSOLUTELY (NO) EFFECT ON THE AWESOME AUDIO PLAYBACK. Please note!

The Audio Quality

I have played this record track for track as usual prior to listing on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is cristal clear and vibrant all the way through!!! This indeed plays through with absolutely (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all! In fact this looks and sounds like it has been hardly ever played at all!! unbeleivable for a vinyl that is 43 years old!!! TOP TOP! AUDIO THROUGH OUT (NO) CLICKS OR POPS AND CERTAINLY (NO) JUMPS OR SKIPS!!! AUDIO GRADED ALMOST AS GOOD AS IT GETS ON MY SYSTEMS PLAYS LIKE NEW!!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! That I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this vinyl. and have played it through track for track. !, Please allow for the odd static (not) consistant through out the audio!!! Remember this is an original (not) a reissue that is 41 years old and would have been played on a system that is 41 years old!! (One of the best that I have heard Audio graded as very near perfect \ near mint on my systems)

Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!

The audio is graded at the very very top!!!

Points To Note! This vinyl has been stored in a case seperated from the sleeve and cover for over 40 years, A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static. A constant clean before each play is highly recomended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

The labels

The original FONTANA labels are awesome near perfect  (see photos) With just barely seen one spider mark only when angled to the light which indicates to me that in my opinion this has hardly ever been played at all!

The Cover.

This is the original 1st press laminated front FONTANA cover! in awesome condition! With (no) splits or tares the front is super glossy with amaizingly no real creases to the laminate to mention! the rear is exceptionaly clean for a 42 year old original! Please note there is just a 3-4mm strip at the opening edge of tape residue, which could possibly be removed! The spine edges and corners are superbe! VERY HARD TO FIND LIKE THIS!! Must grade at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion!

VERY COLLECTABLE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER ORIGINAL 43 years old!!!!!
