Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The ever highly-sought / wanted and near-extinct 1969 original
- STONE CIRCUS LP was released on Bob Shad’s Chicago-based "Mainstream Records. Way back in 1969 , they reflectied as one of the best of numerous underground-rock albums unlikely to have seen the light of day otherwise (including fuzz-pstch classics by the Bohemian Vendetta, the Art Of Lovin’, the Growing Concern, Ellie Pop, the Jelly Bean Bandits, the Orient Express and others), despite there being little or no national distribution or radio support. At best Stone Circus was a gathering of the more talented artists on the Mainstream label roster, heaed by far more known acts such as Big Brother & the Holding Company and Ted Nugent’s Amboy Dukes. A classic victim of the labels non-supportive approach were the mighty Stone Circus.
STONE CIRCUS leader and chief songwriter was Jonathan Caine (real name Larry Cohen). Born in Montreal Canada in 1948, by the age of 14 he was a guest soloist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and upon graduation from the Quebec Conservatory in 1968, he gravitated towards America’s East Coast. There he hooked up with fellow Montreal natives Ronnie Paige, David Keeler and Mike Burns, as well as guitarist Sonny Haines (a New Yorker who had played with popular teen popstars Joey Dee and the Starlighters before recording a few 45s with Canadian act 'the Footprints').
The band based themselves in New York, named themselves "the Funky Farm" and were soon offered the chance to record an album by Mainstream Records. The results was a superior blend of hazy infectious psych-prockers and experimental acid rock gems, spanning breezy, catchy hooks ('What Went Wrong?' and 'Sara Wells'), harder-edged rock ('Mr. Grey' and 'Inside-Out Man') and out-and-out freak-beat coolness (the long closing track, 'People I One Knew,' which opens and closes with unsettling spoken word sections), and bore similarity to popular acts such as 'the Strawberry Alarm Clock' and 'Creation Of Sunlight'
Nevertheless, STONE CIRCUS remain in highest-order obscurity, though one hopes they’re aware of the high-standing their music they created, having been honored belatedly amongst a large throng of vinyl psychedelic-rock sixties connoisseurs.
