PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. 1971 ORIGINAL
SMOKING TED NUGENT & THE AMBOY DUKES ALIVE IN DETROIT
THE AMBOY DUKES
SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
USA - POLYDOR 24 4035
MINTY CLEAN !!!
Original first 1971 pressing STILL IN FACTORY SHRINK WRAP features the legendary AMBOY DUKES recorded live at The Eastown Theater in Detroit, Michigan, on July 31 and August 1, 1970.
The songs on this album were like a six-string monster devouring any semblance of what passed for rock music. "Papa's Will" was like something I never even imagined. It was as spooky as it was brilliant. Ted Nugent is a survivor. Armed 'n' fuckin' ready, and high on piston-pounding, Motor City aggression, dead-eye Ted takes aim and rules with take-on-the-world confidence. Never one to hold anything back, full-throttle Nooge hit 1970 as the man-in-command of the Amboy Dukes, when the Detroit-based group kicked-out the six pack Survival of the Fittest LP. Uncle Ted wasn't about to let the lefty sixties cloud his primal take-charge onslaught as the super seventies took hold. It's all about the spirit of the wild and right to leave ears ringing for days on end, when it comes to the rustbelt's fierce six-string banshee. With a take-no-prisoners lean, Ted pushes the amps to the max and kicks serious ass. This Polydor release of Survival of the Fittest captures Nugent and company live and dangerous. Opening with the defiant title track, the concert performance is all about Ted's whackmaster axe attack, despite the bass and drum solo that bogs-down the twenty-one-minute closing "Prodigal Son". Steer clear if you can't handle Ted's gasket-blown guitar onslaught. The sound of this record brings powerfully Deep Purple to mind, especially because of the instrumental dialogue between the Nuge's guitar and the Andy Solomon's organ, Detroit's counterpart of Blackmore/Lord, at least in this LP.
"Survival of the fittest: live" is a proto heavyrock platter, with the known exacerbations of the genre: drums solo, organ solo, bass solo, wait: no guitar solo, wtf? In fact the whole album is a Ted Nugent's guitar solo, then it would be redundant I assume, whatever.
The MC Madman hunts down some fine riffs here <<<sarcasm, having good rhythm in the 6-minute title track or the subtle "Rattle my snake", and certain Sabbath-esque idiosyncrasy in the 9-minute pseudo-doom rock "Papa's will". The short heavy rock "Slidin' on" is threshold for the 21-minute behemoth that closes the LP: "Prodigal man", one of the best cuts from "Migration" (1969), which here acquires cetaceous magnitudes. This track occupies almost the whole side 2, including all the aforementioned solos, jam session, collection of riffolas, parts, self name-dropping, staccatos, walking bass, claps of the audience, fireworks, abstruse prog patterns, Farfisa's torture, Irish jokes, feedback of fuzzy guitar, timbales, sirens.
The record ends in heavy metal apotheosis ala AC/DC, featuring sustained riffage and eternizing outro. It's an entertaining album, mostly like document of this band's crudeness live and all that; highlights: "Survival of the fittest", "Papa's will", "Migration". Side One
