We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. - The seminal New York girl group's 1965 first album produced by George 'Shadow' Morton for Red Bird Records.
- Few girl groups of the 1960s can lay claim to being as influential as The Shangri-Las. Avoiding the glitz'n'glamour of their Motown contemporaries, the Shangri-Las melodramatic songs and tough girl image - often at odds with lead singer Mary's tremulous vocals have resonated across the decades in the recordings of Blondie, and a few others.
- Comprising sisters Betty and Mary Weiss and twins Marge and Mary Ann Ganser, the group formed in high school in Queens, NYC in 1963 and made their Red Bird Records first LP with producer 'Shadow' Morton's timeless classic 'Remember (Walking In The Sand)'.
- Between 1964 and 1966 they charted 11 US Hot 100 singles.
- Recorded to capitalize on their US No.1 death platter classic 'Leader Of The Pack', this mono 12-tracker brings The Shangri-Las distinctive sound and penchant for tear-stained
- tuff-girl heartbreak to the fore with tracks such as 'Easier To Cry' and 'What Is Love', while the album's opener, 'Give Him A Great Big Kiss', was immediately spun off as a single, peaking at US No.18 in early 1965. In the wake of producer George Morton's death earlier this year this is a timely reflection by one of Pop's best loved girl groups and foremost exponents of teenage angst.
