Original 1966 collectible of the fabulous FRENZIED FUGS second album....
"Like cool"... beatnik artifact of the East Coast underground scene... featuring the 2nd FUGS album...
Freek frug garage psych-out by this crew of acid-laced lunatics engaging mix of parody and counter-cultural philosophy. Ed Sanders was a beatnik poet and operated the Peace Eye Bookstore in the East Village (New York City). He joined up with like-minded Tuli Kupferberg and some friends to form the Fugs. Peter Stampfel and Peter Weber (both of Holy Modal Rounders) also played with the group. The Fugs broke up around 1971
Their first album was their beatnik outing, this (2nd FUGS, 1966) is mostly pure garage -- aside from "I Want to Know" and "Morning Morning", the two breezy, absurd ballads, sweetly performed around Lee Crabtree's bells and celeste...then things get started...one of the best5 on the album is the menacing "Dirty Old Man", then, the drug brain refrain of "Coming Down", The pre-turned-on hippies anthem of "Skin Flowers", The riveting realisms of "Kill For Peace", the forever hip salute in where it's at in "Doin' Alright", the pulsating attack of "Frenzy" plus more of the same...and, then "Virgin Forest", an eleven minute psych-out in cymbal-crashing & reverberationary chaos in propitiation to Aphrodite and the Sea Green Penis.
One of our generations most pressing questions: What was it that the Fugs were trying to tell us? Are we to be cocaine snorting Communist pagans who hold the current age of consent in contempt? As Mr. Ginsberg writes in the liner notes, the teenagers are sure to rise up and understand.

Having no alarming problems anywhere! 4 sharp corners...there are no seam splits, no writing ... collection ready! Ages ago store price sticker still at uper right on outside cellophane. you rarely get the chance at this original LP SO CLEAN!
