Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. Highlighted by Lennon's boisterous "Whatever Gets You Through the Night," which scored him his first No. 1 record as a solo artist, the album also includes compelling tracks like "Steel and Glass," "Going Down on Love," and "#9 Dream" belie the artistic genius Lennon was literally drowning in copious rounds of Brandy Alexanders during this period...There are some good John Lennon songs here, including the classic sound of 'No 9 Dream,' in the vein of songs like 'Dear Prudence', 'Because' and ' A Day In The Life', it's the spaced John Lennon, with a melody that recalls The Beatles.
Other highlights include, "Going Down On Love" which is a good song. "Old Dirt Road" a gentle and relaxing tune featuring some great imagery and a pretty melody.
"What You Got", a heavy punk style song. "Bless You", a beautiful, emotional ballad written as a message to Yoko during their time apart. "Scared" is another outstanding track, a wonderfully moody and atmospheric song which tells us what John's state of mind was like at that time. "Surprise, Surprise (Sweet Bird of Paradox)" was written for May Pang, John's girlfriend during the lost weekend.
"Steel And Glass" is a menacing, venomous ode to the former Beatles manager, said con artist Allen Klein, deliberately written to be reminiscent of "How Do You Sleep?" from Imagine. "Beef Jerky" is a rare Lennon instrumental. "Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out)" is a underestimated song and of the most powerful songs Lennon wrote during this period. Finally, "Ya Ya" is really just a little novelty recording added to the end of the album. It was a nice idea for John to include his song Julian playing drums on this track and credit it as 'Starring Julian Lennon on drums and Dad on piano and vocals'.
