ALBUM: The Freewheelin" Bob Dylan
COMPANY: Columbia Records XSM 58719 3BA is handwritten not stamped in deadwax area. Label CS 8786.
VINYL GRADE: MINT. One of the few records in my collection that I can safely grade this way.
COVER GRADE: VG + Visible ring wear on front & back covers. Cover clearly states STEREO 360 Sound - vinyl label is NOT Stereo 360 Sound
SLEEVE GRADE : Near Mint
INSERT GRADE: NONE
EBAYERS! I have begun the bittersweet task of reducing the size of my beloved 33 LP vinyl album collection. Sadly I too often settle for the convenience of the ipod and CD over the experience of playing an album. However, my shame is your gain, for there are innumerable gems in this collection !!
In all cases, I am the original owner of the album. Pride of ownership is evident. The vinyl was handled carefully and put away carefully after playback. Album covers have various amount of wear, but none from misuse or mishandling. Inserts will almost always be in excellent condition.
My grading process was as follows. Each album was played prior to listing, to decide if it could be offered for sale. Heavily played albums did not survive this process (Led Zeppelin II ~ Fragile by Yes ~ Santana Abraxas come to mind. :) The cover, sleeve and inserts were carefully examined. An honest attempt was made to describe any imperfections. I used the GOLDMINE Grading System as a starting point in determining a grade for each component of an album. These grades are adapted from there.
NEAR MINT ~ The vinyl has been played just a few times. Vinyl has original luster. Minimal audible clicks or surface noise on playback. Cover, inserts, poster and vinyl exhibit no real signs of wear or age.
EXCELLENT Vinyl has original luster. Surface noise barely audible between tracks, and at the beginning /end of record. Cover has just a hint of ringwear or handling.
VG+ Vinyl may have lost some of it’s original luster. There may be some minor surface noise or clicks on playback, but in no case do they overwhelm the listening experience. Minimal scuffs or ringwear to cover.
VG ~ Visible signs of handling and playing. Audible surface noise is noticeable between tracks and at beginning / end of album. Many small clicks/pops but not enough to overwhelm the musical experience. Record guaranteed to play without skipping or repeating. Cover may have ring wear, seam splits, bent corners. Album is offered for sale despite condition because of it’s relative scarcity.
