VERY RARE IN MINT CONDITION
Always been hard to find: 1971 absolute first pressing!
Has one of the most wear-prone covers - here is a TOP COPY minty clean survivor = 47 years of age!
Sold the last copy = in lesser condition, for far more than what we are asking for this superior final collection copy!
Orang-Utan was a London based band that was actually named Hunter. The line-up featured vocalist Terry "Nobby" Clarke (of psych-pop legends Jason Crest), guitar player Mick Clarke, drummer and songwriter Jeff Seopardi and bass player Paul Roberts. They recorded their sole album in 1971. In a bizarre twist of events, their producers/managers took the tapes to the USA, where they arranged a release on Bell Records under a new band name, Orang-Utan, without telling any of the band members.
The album is a lost classic of blazing, early hard-rock with minor psychedelic hangover vibes, a twin-guitar attack, and waves of fuzz/wah, along with powerful vocals. Think Leaf Hound, Budgie, Bang, Sir Lord Baltimore, Hard Stuff...
Many nice standouts in here like for example "Slipping Away", maybe my favourite song "Chocolate Piano", "If You Leave Me" and "Fly Me High". Rest of the songs are great too. This album has only eight songs so there isn't any fillers. This record is one tight package full of awesome hard and bluesy psychedelia numbers with some very fine guitarwork.
I Can See Inside Your Head
Slipping Away
Love Queen
Chocolate Piano
If You Leave
Fly Me High
Country Hike
Magic Playground
