Ultra rare MI-SEX invite 7in / NZ band/ Mork /ticket/ad
Description
Ultra rare Mi-Sex invitiation record, advertising the launch of their CBS album "Space Race" LP.
This 45 was invite handed out to selected people to a live performance launch of then their new LP "Space Race". The venue was at The Professional Musicians Club, at 94 Chalmers st, Surry Hills, and the date was 21st May,7pm (30 years next month, as it would have been 1980 when Space Race was released). The 45rpm was a form of ticket and had to be shown at the door at the venue.
The record starts of with an electronic sound of a incoming landing spaceship(I think), then goes straight into Mi-Sex drums and electronic beat. This goes for over a minute, but over this instrumental bit you have Mork (Mork and Mindy) and Orson talking about the new space race. Some of the transcript:
M) Mork calling Orson! Mork calling Orson! Come in lazer breath!
O) What do you want this time, Mork?
M) I want to tell you about the space race here on Earth.
O) Oh the space race, you mean Nasa and rocket trips to the moon? That primitive earthling stuff.
M) No,no,no,no, the new space race, your Eminenceness. Mi-Sex that is, their new album on CBS Records called, Space Race. I am here to invite you and many Earthlings to the Musicians Club at, 94 Chalmers st,Surry Hills, where you will see Mi-Sex performing their new album,Space Race.
The record goes on to say, ring Evanne _____? to say you want to come along etc etc. Then Mi-Sex continue with vocals singing the Space Race tune. Mork and Orson finish off the record with the details etc. Morks signs off with Na nu na nu.
NOTE: I am pretty sure its Robin Williams playing the Mork part, not just someone imitating him, but I can't be 100% sure.
The 45 also comes with a "With Compliments" written invitation, signed by Evanne.
The vinyl is VG condition, that is, it looks okay but has some slight surface scratches. It is a one sided 45rpm. The "B" side has slight surface scratches. The cover has handling wear and some ring wear.
There would not be to many of these around, maybe less than 300 copies?? ,and it is the only one I have seen in my 30 years of collecting records.
