One of the RAREST official Misfits pressings: Their 1983 Swansong "Earth AD" as extremely rare plain silver text variant! Plain silver text labels, handwritten "M 2" and stamped "MASTERDISK"  matrix etching next to the catalogue number "PL9-02 A/B" and a small mysterious ellipsis with "EDP". Cool translucent brown vinyl, This is the third pressing made in October 1989 when the Misfits and Samhain catalogues publishingcredits changed from Hell-bent Music to Evilive Music. Clings strictly to the nine songs originally on this album and omits the bonustracks that were added as an appendix on later pressings. Has PLAN9 logo on the back but CAROLINE adress and NO barcode! Which is a bit of a mystery because the regular versionsof this third pressing should have a barcode but this only confirmes the testpressing theory because apparently those covers come from the 1986 edition. And there are more mysteries because this pressing should carry the "horror-style" labels but it doesn't! Why a handful of copies have this variant plain text label is not entirely clear, Misfits collectors (e.g. Misfits Central) suggest that this might either be a test pressing or the company simply ran out of labels and quickly produced those text labels as substitutes. But if we regard the fact that those label variant copies always come in the 1986 sleeve it seems clear that they were produced very early in the run. Which would clearly hint at a test pressing. Because if the running out of labels theorie was right then those pressings should at least have the correct cover. But then again: Maybe they ran out of labels AND covers. Isn't record collecting fascinating? Anyway: Fact is that only a handful of these were produced - whenever you see this version of the album it WILL have the standart label!  Thus this wonderful and x-tremely rare collectable was born! Turns very seldom up on Ebay but now is your chance to complete your collection!

Top copy by the way! I bought it early 1990 as curio and as I already had two other versions of this album played it once and put it on the shelve! Near Mint throughout!
