Description


Here's a STEREO 1967 PRESSING of MOBY GRAPE, ST LP CS9498.  It was the FIRST GRAPE LP.  This is not the finger cover, where Don Stevenson, holding the washboard thought it funny to flip the bird on the photo shoot.  Nobody noticed, and the cover was printed.  Once Columbia discovered the middle finger on the washboard, they haulted production of the covers, and airbrushed the extended finger out of the subsequent covers.  I bought this copy years ago, directly from Al Kooper, the legendary keyboard player.  It had been in his collection since the 60's.  There is no poster in this one.   I get all the hype over Mono pressings.  Some LPs just sound amazing in the mono, but quite often I just love a great Stereo recording.  As with the later 60's LPs, stereo was a new thing, and the ability for the engineer to bring sounds at you from different directions was an amazing creative experience.  I love this stereo pressing.  And while everyone jumps for the mono's, I much prefer this when I'm sitting between my speakers.
