The Birdwatchers’ final record for Mala was perhaps their best… a savage beat,
echoey effects, and lyrics about a certain Mary Jane.   It was those lyrics that upset
 Miami radio station WQAM, which insisted that the band change the title!  
 So “cart labels” (file folder labels, for you non-radio folks) were pulled out of the
 production room, and a small number of stock copies got paste-over jobs… with the
 new title placed over the original title!  Here is one of those WQAM copies -- a
 true piece of radio and Florida garage band history.
“Green grass and sunshine will blow your cares away, everybody knows that Mary’s
 here to stay!  Mary Mary, it’s to you that I belong!”
