In 1969, Colgems Records honored The Monkees with their first hits album simply titled The Monkees Greatest Hits. Filled with a treasure trove of number one singles and hit album tracks from their first five smash albums, this incredible LP (only in print for a very short time, making it an instant collector's item) also provided the soundtrack to their successful syndicated television run of The Monkees on Saturday mornings. No stone is left unturned, as this 14-track masterpiece is loaded with hit singles like “Daydream Believer,” “Last Train To Clarksville,” “I'm A Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “Valleri,” “(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone,” plus the appearance of a rare stereo mix of “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You” that was only available on this original vinyl album.

In 1969, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz went back to the studio as a trio this time and recorded the classic Instant Replay album. Noted for their hit single “Tear Drop City,” this masterwork also found The Monkees reuniting with the production team of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart for several of the tracks as well as previous team Monkees writers like Carole King and Neil Sedaka, and highly touted producers like Bones Howe (The Association/Tom Waits) and Shorty Rogers and resulted in some of the finest collaborations ever with this superstar act. Instant Replay also offered the first look at Michael Nesmith's experimental and groundbreaking recording sessions in Nashville as well as solid compositions from all three Monkees.

After the success of their top thirty Instant Replay album, The Monkees were soon back in the recording studio thanks to the Saturday morning airings of their classic Monkees television show on CBS in 1969. Originally released in 1969, The Monkees Present was the eighth hit album from the The Monkees on Colgems Records. As a more introspective session from the band, each Monkee gets a solid opportunity to present their own individual aura in the band format, making this a highly memorable effort. Includes two amazing hit singles from Mike Nesmith with “Listen To The Band,” featuring the rare original LP mix, and “Good Clean Fun.”
