MONK'S DREAM - Thelonius Monk
Deep groove, 1962 FIRST PRESS ORIGINAL RED EYE LABEL 12" MONO vinyl LP with a NEAR MINT ALBUM. (This particular album was produced in late 1962 and then released in January 1963).
A MUST for any serious JAZZ COLLECTOR. You NEVER find these old records in this condition!

Cover is nearly like new, one worn spot on spine, no seam splitting, no ring wear and is still bright & vivid in color

DEAD WAX ETCHINGS/STAMPS: XLP58380 1A - XLP58381 - 1B, CIII
X - means it is a 12" long playing LP record. LP confirms the audio is mastered in a MONAURAL format. 58380-58381 are the master library control numbers for each side. The CIII indicates that this was produced at Columbia's historic plant in Pitman, NJ. III indicates the sub batch lacquer variations. Everything together, along with a copyright from 1962 shows that this is indeed a first press original edition album produced in late 1962 and released in January of 1963.
A NOTE ABOUT VINTAGE 1950s & 1960s 10" & 12" RECORDS - borrowed and edited from can't remember who...brilliant explanation for these old jazz albums. All original 10" LP's are mono recorded and play with surface sounds. Even when they look perfect, it's highly likely they will have some background sound. 10" LP's were only done from 1949 - 1955 in small batches & without using inner sleeves. Back then very few people had high quality turntables, but all had "record players". Most were not kind to record grooves. Today the high quality turntables amplify the imperfections left by old inferior equipment. This can also happen with 12" records from the 1950s &1960s. So please, if this is something that really bothers you, please consider buying a re-issue of this album instead. We play test all the albums we sell & try to grade them honestly & accordingly using the Goldmine Standard.
This rare collectible record will be shipped well padded in a heavy duty custom box with the disc removed from the cover & will be sent PRIORITY MAIL (NOT media mail) so it will arrive in the same condition.
