MONO JAZZ FROM 1957: ANITA O'DAY SINGS FOR OSCAR: ARS G-426: GREAT Band, RVG EX
Anita O'Day ?– Anita Sings For Oscar
Label: American Recording Society ?– G-426 Original 1st Edition PressingSeries:
Jazz Division Format: Vinyl, LP, Album Country: US Released: 1957 Genre: Jazz, Pop Style: Vocal, Swing
THE VINYL : EX : Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, both of the LP surfaces retain almost all of their original gloss. Evident are some light hairlines marks. Undamaged labels with bright color (please see photos).
There are a few very small surface marks that cause some ticking when the needle encounters them.
As is the case with some of the recordings in the American Recording Society's Jazz Division Series, the great Rudy Van Gelder was the Recording Engineer on this release. His etched initials (RVG) are in the deadwax run out on both sides.
THE COVER : EX+ : The covers that were issued by the American Recording Society Jazz Division Series were somewhat unconventional. From the photos, you can see that the cover consists of a piano keyboard around the edges of a colorful, heavy plastic sleeve with the LP opening at the top. Inside the sleeve is a 4 page booklet / insert that serves as "liner notes". While the booklet has three hole punch marks for a conventional ring binder, the plastic sleeve does not have those holes.
This "Cover" has been carefully stored and is in great condition. The plastic sleeve is intact with no tears, holes or missing portions, no writing, dirt or stains. The booklet is in the same condition, with a faint amount of age-related fading.
We have placed the LP into a separate protective plastic inner sleeve.

RECORD GRADING DESCRIPTION:
THIS RECORD IS SIGHT-GRADED ONLY UNDER A BRIGHT LIGHT, ACCORDING TO THESE DEFINITIONS:
SEALED: RECORD IS WRAPPED IN PLASTIC & UNOPENED.
NM-: RECORD HAS LITTLE OR NO INDICATION THAT IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EX: MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE (LIGHT SCRATCHING/PAPER SCUFFS), BUT IN ALL A RECORD THAT HAS BEEN WELL-CARED FOR.
VG+: LESS CARE THAN EX, LIGHT SCRATCHING OR SCUFFING IS MORE EXTENSIVE. STILL VERY PLAYABLE & WILL LIKELY PROVIDE A QUALITY SOUND.
VG & BELOW: WHILE PLAYABLE, THIS RECORD HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK. OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR & SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE IN A LOW GRADE. A RECORD GRADED BELOW VG MAY HAVE A VALUE BASED UPON ITS RARITY OR UNIQUENESS.
WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CLEAN THIS RECORDING BEFORE PLAYING. RECORDS THAT ARE DECADES OLD CAN ATTRACT & ACCUMULATE DAMAGING FOREIGN MATERIAL THAT REDUCES SOUND QUALITY. THIS IS NORMALLY EASILY CORRECTED WITH A GOOD CLEANING.
