Original 1968 first pressing vinyl released on the obscure SUNBURST Records, is a little hard rock psych treasure contains a brilliant Howard Leese (later of "Heart" of all bands!) on lead guitar, capturing the sound of the late 60s, crossing Strawberry Alarm Clock popsike tracks like Have You Been Sleepin' and Get Some Beads with harder rockers like the title track "Chocolate Moose" & "Written On The Wind" With his mighty guitar, Howard Leese has captured a mix of punk garage with flavors sounding like the mighty CHURCHILLS that perfectly make this for a amazingly fun listen...Although California-based Zoo managed to produce only a single album during their short career, it is surprising how fresh and relevant this record still is, some 45 years on.

Formed in 1968 by Murphy ‘Chocolate Moose’ Carfagna, the band also featured Mike Flicker on drums and Howard Leese on lead guitar both of whom went on to join Heart, Leese as guitarist and Flicker as the band’s producer.

Chocolate Moose was released in 1968 on (Tower Records famed producer) Ed Cobb’s Sunburst label (Sunburst 7500) and is far more than just a rock album. It has strong garage and psychedelic tendencies, coupled with a smattering of R’n’B, propel the album with an energetic vitality that is underpinned by Leese’s searing guitar.

The "Chocolate Moose" album is rare with collectors all over seeking, has now become a major collectors item. One listen and it’s easy to understand why.

1. Chocolate Moose
2. Written On The Wind
3. I’ve Been Waiting Too Long
4. Soul Drippin’s
5. Get Some Beads
6. Ain’t Nobody
7. Try Me
8. Love Machine
9. Have You Been Sleepin’
10. From A Camel’s Hump

CONDITION: The cover: Hard one to describe because it is still in original factory shrink wrapper (cellophane missing a bit on back, but that's no problem) the issue is that only a quarter of an inch down the pocket opening (very small) came into contact with moisture at one time. Most evident is the bottom left corner area near tiny delete mark (NO cut corners). The top left corner also has a small ding, not bad. Altogether with rate in the VG++ range as most all of the cover is mint ... strange as it sounds....colors are strong ... no split seams, no writing, no delete marks  ... lets put it this way, IF we didn't already own a copy - this is a collection keeper...it's rare, in demand and 44 years old...

The vinyl: still glossy on both sides having a couple of nothing inner sleeve scuffs, one visual thin whispy hairline ...play graded carefully all the way through, noticed only a little bit of passive surface, hardly any, so still a very worthy VG++ and better (mostly plays with excellent/clean audio) oh, and has no dreaded groove wear.

A GREAT ADDITION TO ANYONE'S COLLECTION !

SEE: SELLERS OTher items for similar cool sounds for "head" people...

EFFICIENT/CAREFUL GRADING

All imperfections are noted both cover & record
