THE MOODY BLUES :- The Magnificent Moodies - Original 1965 UK Decca LK 4711 Mono LP

One of the best 1960's beat debut albums, the Moodies at this point a tough little R&B band fronted by soulfully voiced Denny Laine. Like most English bands of the period, the Moodies covered songs by black American acts both famous and obscure--the album's big hit, " Go Now", was in fact a faithful version of a failed American single by the today little-known Bessie Banks. They also take on James Brown (definitive readings of "I'll Go Crazy" and "I Don't Mind") as well as bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson's "Bye Bye Bird", but they weren't averse to pop tunes, demonstrated here by their appropriation of "I've Got a Dream", by Brill Building legends Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich.Just about everything here is worth hearing, including a take on Gershwin's "It Ain't Necessarily So" and a rendition of "Time Is on My Side" (yes, the same song the Stones covered). If you only know the Moody Blues from their second incarnation as symphonic popmeisters, this will be a major eye opener.

Condition of Vinyl:- Both sides of the disc have a little wear ......... a few surface marks .......... nice clean labels , light spindle use only ......... The disc plays through really well , a little surface noise only : Graded in VERY GOOD / Near EXCELLENT condition.

Condition of Sleeve:- Front laminated Robert Stace sleeve

Front: Light use only ........ bright and clean .......... light wear , light ring impression

Rear: Nice clean rear panel .............. light ageing only

Spine: No spine wear ......... one very minor edge rub

Awsome!!, padded out with grossly long winded descriptions , many of the 'experts' who use this method of selling also add technical information , which is totally unfounded and incorrect to actual facts , and would be laughable , but for the fact that it is misleading........ I take time and care to grade items correctly and only list quality records, with concise and accurate grading descriptions......................

I have been a lifelong music fan , my first concert visit was in 1957 (Birmingham Town Hall Skiffle Contest!) and have bought records of all the great music since 1959 , and had the privelege of seeing most of the great artists live too (I saw The Beatles twice........and Segovia!)
