The record features two of Australia’s finest 70’s Jazz-Funk groups “The Galapagos Duck” & “The Brian Brown Quintet”. They were record live during the 1976 Moomba Jazz Concert which was held at The Dallas Brooks Hall in Melbourne.

SIDE ONE – The Galapagos Duck

Featuring: Tom Hare – Sax, Trumpet & Percussion / Marty Mooney –  Sax, Clarinet & E-Bass / Paul McNamara – Piano / Chris Qua – Bass Violin, E-Bass & Fugelhorn / Willie Qua – Drums.

SIDE TWO : The Brian Brown Quintet with the Jazzbird Orchestra

Featuring Brian Brown – Synth & Tenor Sax / Bob Sedergreen – Electric Piano, Mini Korg Synth / David Tolley – Bass / Ted Vining – Drums

Side two is a really intense Electric Jazz/Fusion infused set that gets quite haunting at times. The groove slowly builds up and becomes more and more crazy as it reaches its finale. As the music builds, the Presbyterian Ladies College Choir chanting and screaming weird choruses over the top of the band which adds an uneasy intensity to the music. At times the music sounds inspired by Miles Davis  and the Jazz-Fusion he was exploring around the same period and other times it sounds quite unique.  Over all a A great Live recording that gives us a small taste of what these two groups would have been like to actually see live in action…
