Description
This was a real find, an original 1956 pressing of Moondog’s self titled debut LP, with the black and yellow Prestige label PRESTIGE LP 7042. Considering the age of this record, the vinyl looks really good, head and shoulders above most of the records I see from this period. Some surface scratches that might cause some noise, but none of these marks look serious. Surprising. Front of the cover is still very glossy, some ring wear. Some shelf wear on bottom edge. 3” seam splits on upper and lower right corners, and splitting on the edges of the spine. Despite the seam splits, this sleeve still feels solid, it is not about to fall apart, it is not coming apart. The back shows ring wear and soiling, but all of the print is still legible, no peeling. You will be hard pressed to find a copy of this exceedingly rare record in better condition, and though the sleeve isn’t perfect, this would make a great addition to any serious jazz or avant collection.
