RARE PSYCH/PROG FOLK ROCK
This rarely seen album is the original UK release on the rare Mother label.
The vinyl has retained a nice sheen. Under close scrutiny there is some inevitable marking where the record
has been removed from, and replaced into its inner sleeve, and some light scratches picked up over its 40 year existence.
Soundwise, there are no jumps or skips, however there is some surface crackle and the odd pop, audible to varying
degrees on most of the record. To my ears this is not a major distraction, but its presence makes me rate this record, I
think fairly as VG. On side 2 track 4 there is a more visible mark, more of a scuff than a scratch which is about an inch long and
less than 1/16 of an inch wide which runs WITH the grooves rather than across. This in itself does not appear to
contribute any added problem to the sound. The labels are clean with not many spindle marks.
While the vinyl may not be perfect, the sleeve comes very close. There is no wear to top and bottom edges, minimal
wear to the spine with all word readable. The opening edges are clean and crisp.
The die cut front the sleeve is fantastic! The die cut itself has no tears, the edges are as crisp and clean
as the day it was produced. There is very slight ringwear to top and bottom. There is no writing in pen
pencil or anything else anywhere.
The reverse is damn near perfect with even less ringwear than the front. Finally the inner sleeve
with liner notes by JOHN PEEL no less, and lyrics, IS perfect!
To sum up this is not for you if you are looking a mint copy, (I doubt that many mint copies are out there)
however it is, despite its faults a great listen, and the sleeve is to die for!
I have tried to give an accurate and
honest appraisal of both its faults and its merits, but if you have any queeries I will do
my best to answer them.
