Description

This is "NOVA SOLIS", the 1st Press vinyl LP, released by MORGAN back in July 1972.
The band features Tim Staffell on bass guitar and volcals, who was the lead singer in SMILE, with Brian May and Roger Taylor before Freddie Mercury joined and they became QUEEN.
The original LP was recorded by MORGAN in Rome, Italy and this is the early 1st press vinyl manufactured in Italy.

The LP is on the  RCA VICTOR label, number LISP 34154 (BKAY 18288) and the matrix numbers in the vinyl runout are:

  • Side 1:   BKAY 18288 1A
  • Side 2:   BKAY 18289 1A
  •

This 1st press release is documented on the DISCOGS website.
I use the Record Collector Vinyl Grading system, which can be viewed at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/RECORD-COLLECTOR-VINYL-RECORD-GRADING-GUIDE-/10000000001916909/g.html I use "+" and "-" where the condition sits between 2 grades to provide a more accurate description. I only use MINT for sealed or unplayed records.
The vinyl is visually in superb MINT- condition, no visible spindle marks, no scratches, looking nearly new. During playtest it also played superbly, like a new record, quiet between tracks, and is hence rated MINT- for audio.
Fortunately this LP was played just a few times initially and was then recorded to tape for future listening, which means that the vinyl has been preserved in superb condition.
The gatefold cover was unlaminated, and the cover and the spine is worn along the edges, otherwise general wear and some ringwear., and hence the cover is rated as VG+
The vinyl is in lovely condition, and hard to believe it is over 45 years old.
The record will be posted in a MusicMAX STRONG LOCKTAB  RECORD MAILER.
