GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : un film che ironizza sul vacuo idealismo libertario ed anticonformista di un giovane figlio di papà. Una trama ideale per sperimentare nuove tipologie di sonorità e Morricone ci riesce perfettamente. Infatti la colonna sonora è ricca di musica psichedelica e la prima volta che il Maestro la utilizza in maniera completa. Vocalizzi, sitar (suonato da Alessandroni), effetti sonori, ritmi incalzanti, canti mistici e al tempo stesso profani e suoni antichi sono gli ingredienti principali di questo splendido album. Da evidenziare pure la magnifica orchestrazione di Bruno Nicolai e la bella interpretazione del coro dei Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni. Tutte le dieci tracce che compongono la colonna sonora meriterebbero un breve commento visto la grande personalità di ognuna ma mi limiterò a menzionare soltanto poche di queste, anche perchè è musica che moltissimi collezionisti già conoscono. "Dies irae psichedelico" (a2) condotto dal vigoroso canto mistico del coro con il supporto dell'organo e di una scatenata batteria, "Luca, casa Londra" (a6) caratterizzato da un lungo assolo di sitar che crea una lenta atmosfera sonora riflettente angoscia ed allucinazione. Infine "Secondo rito" (b5) dove inizialmente è ancora protagonista il sitar con vocalizzi e percussioni in sottofondo fino all'esplosione vocale del coro che sommerge tutto per la sua intensità. 

Notes : a mocking film about the emptiness of libertarian idealism from a maverick rich kid. An ideal plot to experiment with new genres of sonorities and this succeeds perfectly to Morricone. In fact, the soundtrack is full of psychedelic music and it's the first time that the Maestro uses this in a complete way. Vocalisations, sitar (played by Alessandroni), sound effects, frenzied rhythms, mystical and at the same time profane chants, old sounds are the main ingredients of this wonderful album. To be highlighted also the magnificent orchestration by Bruno Nicolai and the beautiful vocal performances by I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni. All the ten tracks of the soundtrack would deserve a brief comment in consideration of their great personality but I will mention only a few of them, partly because it is music that many collectors already know. "Dies irae psichedelico" (a2) led by the powerful mystical chant by the choir with the support of the organ and unleashed drums, "Luca, casa Londra" (a6) characterized by a long solo sitar creating a slow sound atmosphere which reflects anxiety and hallucination. Finally "Secondo rito" (b5) which initially is still featuring the sitar with vocalizations and percussion in the background until the vocal explosion of chorus that engulfs everything in its intensity.
