Original 1967 Nonesuch issue on gold/black labels with no rim text and cover still in the SHRINK-WRAP! Vinyl is NM and excellent with a couple very faint paper sleeve scuffs, nothing I can feel. Labels are excellent. Cover in shrink-wrap is NM with a touch of wear along the exposed right side edge and a touch of wear at the bottom left corner where poking through shrink just holding cover grade back from NM. Shrink-wrap is split/torn at the right side of the top edge on the front cover.

This is a cool electronic album composed of two completely synthesizer-made tracks. It is Subotnick's first release, an epic study of the dynamic capabilities of his modular synthesizer custom-made by Don Buchla. Randomized patterns of percussive noise meet ambient microtonal drones in a dense composition truly worthy of endless relistens. This work is both the first full-scale composition created especially for the record medium as well as the first electronic work commissioned by a record company; it is also one of the first purely electronic synthesizer-based compositions-- that is, it is performed by the musician on the synthesizer, unlike the magnetic tape-based musique concrete that had dominated academic electronic music for the previous 2 decades. Subotnick became prominent as an electronic and multi-media composer in the late 60s; he was a pupil of Leon Kirschner and Darius Milhaud and a master of the Buchla synth, blazed the same trails as James Tenney, Gottfried Michael Koenig, Herbert Eimert, Jean-Claude Risset, Pril Smiley, Jon Appleton, Pierre Henry, Terry Riley, Vladimir Ussachevsky, John Eaton, etc., and works often with his wife Joan La Barbara. The Buchla synth, an early Moog competitor, was created by Donald Buchla and pioneered musician-friendly user interface innovations; it was used by Douglas Leedy, Paul Beaver, Bernard Krause, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Bulent Arel, and Daria Semegen.

If you prefer that your package be insured, shipping will be by Priority Mail International mail or registered mail. That is a LOT more expensive, but this is YOUR option. Ask me.

GRADING
Here is the standard PlanetarySounds grades records by (with help from Goldmine).
Remember, even with such a guide, grading is still subjective. Most albums, unless noted, are visually graded under bright lights. We strive to provide as much information as possible about each album. Please ask questions if unsure about anything BEFORE you bid.
Still Sealed (SS) As good as it gets. Unopened and most likely perfect all around.
Mint (M) Absolutely perfect in every way. Maybe played once. Handled with utmost care.
Near Mint (NM or M-) A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious signs of wear. Covers show no more than the most minor defects. The same holds true for inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc.
Near Mint Minus or Very Good Plus Plus (NM- or VG++) Just a hair more wear than NM, but still very close to Near Mint overall. Vinyl may have nominal sleeve or paper scuffs, cover may have hint of wear. VG++ will be just a fraction below NM- due to one additional tiny defect.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Album and cover show some light signs that it was played and otherwise handled with care of it. Record surfaces may have slight surface scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect play. If not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
Very Good (VG) Increased scuffs or light scratches, surface noise evident upon playing. Covers and labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers, or minor seam splits.
Very Good Minus (VG-) Certain background noise, possible click or pop, flawed item. Covers heavily damaged, major splits, tears, writing, etc.
