This is a chance to own one of the rarest country LPs that I have seen in my forty years of collecting.  It is Mother Maybelle Carter of the famous Carter Family, on the Briar label #101.  It was recorded in Stereo Auraphonic Sound by Briar International of Nashville, 3, TN.  

This LP is not listed in any of the price guides that I've seen.  I was able to find a Johnny Horton LP on a BRIAR label with the #104, which lists for $150.   I suspect that these were part of the same series.    

I have been told that the BRIAR series was put out by Briar Pipe Tobacco some time around 1960 as some kind of  promotion.  So, I suspect that it is very rare and possibly "one of a kind" that would be a great addition to any serious collection of early country music.   

The cover and the vinyl are in great condition and look like they could have just come off the record store shelf.  There are no tears in the cover and no record rings on the vinyl.  There are a few smudges on the cover that appear to be a little stain that could easily be removed.

I rate the cover and vinyl as VG++.  It is in great shape even with its considerable age.   It looks and plays great.   I use Gold Mine rating standards, and, I always rate conservatively.  So, bid with confidence.

Since posting this listing I have learned from another eBayer who saw this listing, that, according to the book on the Carter Family, Will You Miss Me When I'm gone, This Mother Maybelle Briar Lp was released in 1963 with very little commercial success. Only a few copies have ever shown up on eBay.  This album is pretty rare.
