Description
MOUNTAIN Nantucket Sleighride 1971 UK ISLAND 1st PRESS Nr MINT
MOUNTAINNantucket Sleighride
UK ISLAND ( ILPS 9148) FIRST PRESSING (June 1971) OF MOUNTAIN'S CLASSIC SECOND LP "Nantucket Sleighride"
LOVELY COPY - ONCE PLAYED (or part played) DELIVERING PRACTICALLY FLAWLESS SOUND THROUGHOUT
PRESSED ON MID/HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE FIRST ISSUE ISLAND PINK RIM LABELS
CORRECTED MATRIX: ILSP (crossed out) ILPS 9148 A-1U / ILPS 9148 B-1U (stamped 'STERLING', etched LH/RL)
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL HEAVY GAUGE OUTER LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford"
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL PALE BLUE ISLAND COMPANY INNER SLEEVE
Side 1: Don't Look Around / Taunta (Sammy's Tune) / Nantucket Sleighride (to Owen Coffin) / You Can't Get Away / Tired Angels (to J.M.H)
Side 2: The Animal Trainer And The Toad / My Lady/ Travellin' In The Dark / The Great Train Robbery
LABELS: NEAR MINT
Both labels are clean, bright and unmarked with possibly one spindle trace on Side Two, none on Side One which indicates Side One may have been played once and Side Two not at all
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
In normal light, completely unmarked with just wispy hairlines under bright light
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
In keeping with its barely played status my play-check at loud volume detected no major issues of any kind - no scratches and no clicks or pops.
The whole set plays beautifully with just a light touch of surface between one or two of the tracks reducing the grading slightly otherwise, flawless
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
The heavy-gauge gatefold has a deep, glass-like glossy sheen to the outer laminated surfaces which display just a little rubbing. The inside is clean and white with just a few tiny 'foxing' spots (very minor) and the edges and spine are crisp and square with little wear to speak of - all spine text is clear and bold. A fine example
INNER SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
The Pale Blue Island Company inner has lost none of its strong, vibrant colour and apart from some discolouration (to the areas where the adhesive has been used to fix the poly-lining) is clean and unmarked with no seam splits
A PROTECTIVE POLY SLEEVE, NEW INNER SLEEVE WITH ANTI-STATIC LINER, QUALITY BOX (NOT ENVELOPE) MAILER AND AMPLE STIFFENERS ARE ALWAYS USED TO ENSURE THAT YOUR RECORD ARRIVES SAFELY
