MATRIX: A1-G/B1-G FIRST PRESSING of a rare folk-rock LP
Tracks: Side 1: Join Us In Our Game; The Hanged Man; The Gay Goshawk; Rip Van Winkle; Mr Trills Song. Side 2: Little Women; Salisbury Plain; The Ballad Of Neddy Dick; Leaving The Dales; Mr Fox.
The group’s first eponymous album released in 1970, was in some ways very similar to the work of early Steeleye Span, but, consisted largely of original compositions, mainly by the Peggs, with a Dave Mason tune, ‘Little Woman,’ and the songs ‘Salisbury Plain’ and 'Mr Thrill's Song' with lyrics by Ashley Hutchings. The use of classically trained musicians and the wide variety of instruments used (including organ, melodeon, tin whistle, terrapin, fiddle, cello, flute, clarinet) made for very complex arrangements and sounds. It was well received by the music press and was made Melody Maker album of the year.
Record Condition: Excellent+ Very near mint. A superb copy.
Record sleeve: Excellent+ Just the odd crease at the opening. On the inside of the sleeve and on the inner white non-poly sleeve 1638 has been written in green ink as a shop ref. I guess.
