MUDDY WATERS Sings Big Bill Broonzy LP

French CHESS VOGUE VG405 515029

A beautiful looking and sounding reissue of this classic 1960 LP. No dates on the record or sleeve but I would think I bought this some time in the 1980s.

Muddy and his road band of the time - as seen and heard and seen on the equally classic Newpost album and film - Otis Spann piano, James Cotton harmonica, Pat Hare guitar, Andrew Stephenson bass and Francey Clay drums went into the studio for two sessions in 1959 and cut this wonderful set of Big Bill Broonzy songs. The songs fit Muddy like a glove and all the players involved are in top form. This is not some watered down tribute album - Big Bill would have loved it - Chicago blues at its best !
